Weekend in pics

Moiji was in town for the weekend. She came to my white coat ceremony on Friday. On Saturday, we met up w/the Hartmans and relaxed in the club lounge at the Ritz in Battery Park, where they were staying. They had really good food & drinks there -- scallops on a bed of seaweed, soba noodles, chicken & noodles flavored w/dashi (it was an asian-themed spread), and I had my first mojito. And there was a buffet of yummy desserts after cocktail hour.

On Sunday, while I checked out Emmanuel on the Morningside Heights campus, moiji met up w/the Hartmans again. It started raining & neither of us had an umbrella, so we were going to rendezvous at the K-mart on 8th ave between 15th & 16th streets, but it didn't exist. (It's a pretty artsy area, and the gay guy moiji asked for directions was offended at the very idea of a K-mart being in his neighborhood). I was feeling pretty anxious at that point & decided to take the A all the way back up to Spanish Harlem, praying that moiji had gotten the same idea to return to the dorm. Fortunately, she had. ::Sigh:: Meeting up in the city is risky business w/o cell phone access. We returned downtown later that afternoon and had dinner w/Jason & Sandy, who had run the half-marathon that day. The place we went was called Chennai Garden. It's in "Curry Hill" and specializes in dosais.
