My co-workers took me out to lunch today. We went to China Gourmet, and they splurged on a 10-course meal! I'll try to remember what we had:
1. Seafood soup (It had something that resembled pork rind in it but was reportedly much more expensive. The ones who knew what it was didn't want to disclose it out of consideration for the squeamish people in our group.)
2. Conch sauteed with sea scallops and snap peas
3. Platter of salt-and-pepper shrimp and a mayonnaisy egg/seafood concoction plated on scallop shells
4. Chinese broccoli with shiitake mushrooms
5. Roast chicken with burnt salt
6. Lobster sauteed with ginger & scallions
7. Gourmet pepper steak (sliced filet mignon, peppers, & onions sauteed in a sa-cha sauce)
8. Steamed whole fish with ginger & scallions
9. Fried rice
10. Deep-fried boneless pork in a tangy red sauce
It was really good. We had sliced oranges and red bean soup for dessert.
My co-workers are so nice. Besides the electric skillet, they gave me a gift card to the Sports Authority. It was accompanied by a card that everyone signed -- a veritable cornucopia of signatures from around the globe. We have a lot of Chinese in our group, of course, but we also have members from Sweden, Ireland, and Lebanon, not to mention someone who grew up in a Mennonite family near Lancaster, PA. I suspect they'll miss me as much as I'll miss them, but I heard that an offer is in the works for the hot guy who interviewed with us last week. E-mail me if you want the details. ; )
