I woke up early this morning and went to the post office all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to find out if I had gotten any mail from Columbia. The guy at the counter checked and told me he hadn't seen anything, but that didn't mean it hadn't come yet ... something about how the mailman sorts some of the mail en route. Basically, I had to go back home and wait until he came later this afternoon w/the mail. So I went to volunteer, and when I came home I did a "Chariots of Fire" dash to my mailbox. No mail. Nothing, not even a credit card offer for 0% APR. Damn.
So then I went upstairs to my apartment and logged onto the Student Doctor Network. This one guy who I'd been tracking because he lives in Jersey -- he got an acceptance today. From deduction, then, it looks like I'm out of the running on this one. It's no biggie, really, because Columbia hadn't been at the top of my list anyway. I'd really wanted the acceptance as a trump card so I could go back to UCSF and say, "Look, I got in here, but I would give it up to go to UCSF."
Ah well, I have Oscar to comfort me. The 78th annual Academy Awards are tomorrow, and to whet my appetite, I rented the new Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. Gonna go watch it now.
