My lips are cracked, my mouth is dry
The situation is getting dire over here. I feel like I'm in the Sahara. All because the PR&D administration can't order more water. At the beginning of last year, a new department moved onto my floor. At first, they didn't have too many ppl, but they started hiring & expanding the population on our floor without concurrently increasing the budget for certain basic needs, i.e. water. And now we're running on empty. The water cooler ran dry over a week ago, and it was supposed to be replenished today, but the guy hasn't come around to do it yet. My co-worker Karen graciously offered me two 0.5 L bottles that she got from her husband over in Lab Animal Resources. They apparently have a surplus. Foolish prideful me, I only accepted one. She also told me the canteen in the other building sells 1.5 L bottles for $2. So I went over there just now, but they're closed for lunch. By the time I got back, I was in serious need of some rehydration therapy and was going to beg the other bottle from Karen, but Karen wasn't at her desk and she's ALWAYS at her desk. Argh ... Finally, I trudged up to the 5th floor which is on its last tank and re-filled my 0.5 L bottle. (I have a 1.5 L bottle that's been sitting empty on my desk, but I figured I shouldn't be greedy.) I know I'm being sort of a drama queen here. I shouldn't really be complaining, because it's Poland Springs water I'm talking about. Regular tap water we have plenty of, but I grew kind of leery about it after some e-mails were circulated last year about testing for lead in the drinking fountains.

HAHA! i know how u feel tho. 1x i get used 2 poland spring water its hard 2 go back. ps is a lil sweeter i think b/c its spring water and not distilled water.
QUESTION: u said that u got water fron karens husband in Lab animal resources? Does that mean that ur lab animals drink poland spring too?
No, I think the Poland Springs is only for the humans. ;) The animals, I believe, just get regular tap water -- unless they're being tested for an oral formulation, in which case the water is laced w/chemicals maybe??? Honestly don't know.
bum deal. u would think that with all they have 2 endure, they would at least give them some poland spring for the short time they're here on this earth. i bet that would really improve their employee satisfaction rate.
Ha ha. We DID get employee satisfaction surveys last year, but I don't think you got to participate unless you belonged to the species Homo sapiens.
For the stuff we do to them, they should get Dom Perignon. Maybe that would quell the animal activists.
