Perfect Storm

Our first big snowfall of the season ... not bad. We've held off on blizzards up 'til now, and this one happened to arrive on a weekend, so we had plenty of time to prepare. The stores were crazy Friday night and Saturday, though. Everyone and their mother (literally) were out and about loading up on last-minute supplies. Judging from the crowded stores & grocery carts, you'd think we were back in the days of Little House on the Prairie, when snow would cut people off from supplies for months at a time.

I ran into first Mrs. Huang (Jennie & Peter's mom) and then Mrs. Su (Devlin's mom) at the Asian Food Market on Friday night. Mrs. Su insisted I come over for lunch on Saturday, so I did. It was nice -- we had hot pot, and Devlin and Noel were both home. After volunteering yesterday, I came home and that's where I've been ever since. After waking up to a call from the pastor's wife saying church was cancelled, I proceeded to turn on Food Network, swoon over Dave Lieberman (the hot new TV host on foodtv), as well as catch all my favorites (Rachael, Giada, and Ina Garten). I've also had the Gilmore Girls (grrr to Netflix for failing to send me my next disc of GG) and Garden State to keep me company. And I've been re-learning German as I help moiji edit her essays for the Fulbright (congrats to her for making the first cut for the Paedagogischer Austauschdienst!). On my agenda for the rest of the day:

1. Finish shoveling car out of snowbank.
2. Take shower.
3. Make lo ba.
4. Work on next week's Statistics assignment.
5. Continue editing moiji's Darlegung.
6. Call parents.
7. Watch Garden State while eating the slice of dark chocolate cheesecake that Aki saved for me. (yum!)
8. Fall into bed ~ 9 pm.

No such luck w/the snow ... it's business-as-usual at work today.

I was getting so tired shoveling yesterday, then this guy drove over w/his mini snow plow and cleared the rest of it from behind my car. Sweet!
