Woofie's sick!
Poor Fluffy is sick. I got the call yesterday around noon. James couldn't get a hold of me because I was in the lab, so he got the department secretary on the line. Fluffy was having very bloody diarrhea. Since I took the vanpool, I had to get an emergency ride back to my car in EB. I took her to the vet, he did some tests and they came out negative for parasites & bacterial infections, so he gave her some antibiotics and told me to call him in the morning. I tried to feed her some chicken & rice like the vet said, but she wasn't having any of it. She was so sad and pathetic. I threw a milkbone-w/-marrow treat in front of her and she just walked away. I took her out later and saw the bloody diarrhea for myself. It was like pure red coming out of her behind. Then I started to panic & tried calling some other vets, but they were all closed. I decided to trust what the vet had told me and wait until the morning, but I was pretty sure she'd have to be hospitalized. Also, since I left work in a hurry, I didn't get a chance to send out these results that the project teams were expecting for their meeting today. Both teams are on a very tight timeline, and since I'm going to be away until Monday, I had to get the results out. So around 10 pm last night I drove back into work, spent an hour putting together the results & sending them out, and got back home around 1 am. Then, Fluffy woke me up at 5:30 because she needed to go out. I took her out, where she had another bout of bloody diarrhea. I talked to the vet again this morning & he thinks she needs to go to the hospital but it turns out he doesn't have that capability at his office--even though his place is called the Nassau Animal Hospital. Go figure. I got an appointment at 11:15 w/Belle Mead, which treated Fluffy the last time she was hospitalized for pneumonia as a puppy. I don't know how long she's going to have to stay there--maybe through the weekend. She's so low energy, nothing fazes her. She doesn't run up to the door when she hears someone outside. There were 2 dogs at the vet yesterday & she couldna cared less about them. That's so unlike her. I'm a little worried about what the bill will come out to b/c last time Animals 'n' Things, where I bought Fluffy, took care of it. But like my dad says, be grateful for the problems that you can solve just w/money. I hope she's going to be okay. I'll keep you updated if I get access to another computer in the next few days. I'm so tired, but I think after a good night's rest tonight I'll be fine for the interview tomorrow.
