Shades of gray
I'm sick.
I must have picked up a virus when I went to the mall on Saturday. You know how more ppl get sick in winter b/c everyone's cooped up w/each other indoors? Well Saturday & Sunday were hot as hell, so it was pretty much the same thing. I spent an hour and a half looking, yet again, for a bottom that would match the charcoal-colored suit jacket I got from Ann Taylor in January. (It had been marked down to $60 from $240--I couldn't resist.) I was on a mission, since my first interview at Baylor in Houston is in 3 weeks. It was freakin mission impossible, though, because the shade of gray I was looking for was so specific that nothing quite matched. The closest I came was a pair of dress pants from Charter Club at Macy's, but even they were a touch too brown-y. I found the matching Ann Taylor skirt on eBay, though, so I'm going to try to win it. The auction ends tomorrow. Since it's a size 4, I'm still going to have to get the waist taken in 2.5 inches and the bottom hemmed another 3, but I figure it's worth it after all the trouble I've gone to. I might still be able to get the whole suit for under $150.
I'm going to stay w/my friend from freshman year in college, Elizabeth, when I go to Houston. She's an MD/PhD student at Baylor. So glad that worked out, b/c getting to & from the airport and finding my way around the city could've been a real pain. I'm still waiting to hear from UCSF. They screen pre-secondary, and I know a few ppl from out-of-state have received the secondary already. It's weird b/c when I went to their website, I saw a picture of this Korean dude who I thought I'd seen before. He was a year ahead of my sister in college & went to the same high school in Waco, TX, as the friend I visited down in D.C. over Memorial Day. Turns out it was David Lee. He was making a pitch for UCSF to prospective students. It's kind of weird when you see your classmates popping up like that. I recognized a girl in the UPenn viewbook, too. I was like, "Wasn't she in my chemistry class freshman year?" It's like, gee, I hope I'm so lucky. Well, I better get back to cracking on my essays if I'm ever gonna get there. I stayed home from work, but progress has been slow today.
