The Pool
Sunday I went swimming at the apartment community's pool for the 1 st time in the 3 years I've been living here. There were kids in the pool so I swam laps along the "deep" end (5.5 ft). The distance was probably half the length of a regular pool, but I was dying by my 9th lap. My toes were cramping up & I was so tired and sore afterwards. I couldn't find my goggles that day so I had to close my eyes when I was underwater. It was probably for the best, b/c I went again yesterday w/my goggles on and and let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight. Besides leaves and dirt, there were all sorts of dead bugs floating in the water: flies, bees, probably mosquitoes, too. I was wondering at one point if you can get West Nile from swallowing mosquitoes. (I'm a hypochondriac, I know.) The 2nd time around was so refreshing, though. I had the whole pool to myself, except for a dude w/long hair (he looked European), so I actually swam close to real laps. I did 10 and take it as a good sign that I didn't feel like collapsing afterwards.
